The Youth Ninjas (Ages 10 to 14) - Teenage Years Can Be Challenging.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Due to COVID19 and events beyond the Dojos control, effective 4/30/2020, the dojo is closed indefinitely.  We will be looking at our next steps after May 2020.
Let's face it. As kids grow up and get into the teenage years things change. There is a lot to do and their friends pull them in all sorts of directions. Especially today where distractions are everywhere for our teens and it's easy to lose focus when everything is vying for their attention. Sometimes they need a place to walk a different path and you need a place where you know they will learn to focus their energy in safe but challenging environment.

Ninjutsu is different that soccer, football, track, and other high school activities as it combines the physical with the mental to reach their highest potential. This art also starts them on a challenging personal journey that will change them for life.

Here we focus on three areas for the youth classes
  1. Self Defense: We teach a combination of self-defense techniques, strategy for escaping from danger and getting to safety, and conflict resolution skills.
  2. Physical Fitness: We emphasize on physical fitness and coordination. In our classes we develop fundamental athletic skills. These are important skills like coordination, flexibility and balance. These skills are required for baseball, soccer, tennis, and more. At the Ninja Dojo we teach these skills to each and every student. Whether your child earns his black belt or stops sooner they will have these valuable skills for life!
  3. Internal Transformation: In a world where pressure to succeed and depression are on the rise, we also teach the inside skills of the martial arts. These are self-control, self-confidence, and listening skills, as well as proper respect and good manners. What is really powerful about our school is that we don’t just talk to our students about these skills. They actually experience them every single time they attend one of our classes! Soon they learn to apply these same skills in school and in their later life. These are Traditional Lessons that last a lifetime!

Ninja Dojo is the by far the best dojo that I have found for my kids (1 girl, 2 boys, ages 5-9).  I thought martial arts would be good for them for the usual reasons – self-confidence, discipline, self-defense, physical control, etc.  We tried three different schools before finding the Ninja Dojo, and the kids liked them at first but soon lost interest in the repetitive drilling of techniques.

The Ninja Dojo is on a totally different level.  Lyle Benson and his assistant instructors are excellent with the kids.  They teach age-appropriate Ninjutsu techniques like escape and self-defense as you would expect, but they do so with a unique style that has maintained my kids’ excitement for over a year now.  Rather than repetitive drilling like other schools, every class is new and interesting (the other day, they had to defend against “alien space monkeys” with a certain combination of techniques).  My kids especially love the games and obstacle courses that they use to work on technique, balance, speed, and thinking under pressure.  Plus part of the training is beginning swordsmanship (with light weight foam swords), and what kid can resist that?

Lyle Benson has come up with an outstanding kids’ martial arts program that is a great balance of physical and mental training in a positive, encouraging environment.  As an adult, I can recognize the training benefits of the different games, and see the progress that my kids are making.  But from my kids’ point of view, it’s all just a lot of fun!  I highly recommend the Ninja Dojo.
